Potato planting time
Our potatoes have been on a sunny windowsill for a couple of weeks for 'chitting', where their shoots begin to sprout.
Today we planted them outside, covering them with soil and watering them. As they grow we will keep covering them up with fresh soil for a few weeks, so they grow strong shoots under the soil, before we let them grow leaves on top. These underground shoots are where the new baby potatoes will grow from. the plants will need lots of water.
