Volcanoes

Read through the Volcanoes Powerpoint and have a go at rubbing the ‘plates’ using two small bits of paper.

Then complete the ‘How are volcanoes made?’ worksheet.

 

Earthquakes

Read through the Powerpoint slides and watch the video clips on the pages by clicking on the links.

Activity 1 - Write a paragraph answering the following questions:

• What is an earthquake?
• How are earthquakes measured?
• Why are earthquakes dangerous?
• Add any other research/ facts you have found out too!

 

Activity 2 - In some parts of the world, earthquakes are more common than in the UK.  In these places, children are taught what to do if an earthquake happens.

• Create a poster giving advice of what to do in the event of an earthquake. Use slide 7 to help!  You may use present this using whatever media you want. E.g. art/paints, computer, video recording.
