Dyeing and weaving

Our Year 1 children, have been experimenting natural dyes such as onion skins, red cabbage, carrots, tea, coffee and turmeric. They have been bundle dyeing to create unique samples of cloth. They worked with textile artist Elnaz Yazdani, on their weaving and dyeing project. They sketched the school landscape and transformed these images into woven pictures. They worked with parents and carers to create giant collaborative weaves, using handmade t-shirt yarn.
