For example, You could extend this further by getting your child to count on and backwards starting on different numbers. Can you support your child to make up simple maths stories in real life scenarios using first, then and now? For example, first there was two children on the bus, then two more got on, now there are four people on the bus. You could play this game using any small world toys e.g using dinosaurs first there was 3 dinosaurs, then 4 more arrived, now there is 7. Can you encourage your child to work out the addition and then have a go at making up their own mathematical story? Day 4 Activity Subtraction Change: Can you watch Kippers Toy Box: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MyHXxH_Vq4g Discuss what was happening in the story. The toys kept being taken away. Can you support your child to use simple maths stories to develop subtracting using first, then and now? For example, First the bus had 6 people on, then 5 got off, now there is one person left on the bus. Repeat a similar game to the game used for adding. Day 5 Activity Adding and Subtracting: Can you have a go at the robot addition game? https://www.topmarks.co.uk/addition/robot-addition Can you have a go at the subtraction grid game? https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/subtraction-grids
